Here is Miss Librarian. I think I've still got some finishing touches to do, but you get the idear.
ALSO, please watch this cartoon. It's almost Halloween, and nothing gets me in the spirit more than watching a nice seasonal cartoon. I particularly like the part when Donald's feet get hexed and go crazy. Oh YouTube, how you enrich our lives...
Last year I didn't get a chance to dress up on Halloween. BOO to that! This year I think I'll just play it safe with a nice low-key kinda costume, like a bearded lady. That way I can wear a preposterous false beard but also have an excuse to get extra prettied up. This was always the conundrum of Halloween costumes for a little girl: be something pretty, which is fun but not very effective, or be something gross/shocking/gooey, which is VERY effective but not at all pretty. I think my all time favorite costume is still the big yellow bird I made a couple years ago. It was fun to be something so friendly looking and pointless.
Plus I got a few compliments on my legs. I also thought about being a librarian, but that seems a little obvious, doesn't it?

Love the birdie costume! I remember the year I went as a juice box, arounda 'bout the sixth grade - sooooooo not a practical costume! (I couldn't sit in it, my sister and I chopped up the box that my parent's luggage had came in to create it!)
WOW! Really Amazing! You've been busting out some really fun, appealing, and all around fantastic stuff lately, Very inspiring!!!

yay finished librarian! the texture of her skirt is a nice touch :) and i just watched the halloween cartoon when I should really be getting going on my hansen homework.. hehe. But holiday cartoons are always fun. Halloween is so soon! What did you make your bird costume with?
Thanks everybody! I'm glad you like Miss Librarian. Librarians are so under-glorified, they need a little luv.
I'm surprised that old bird costume is such a hit! Mr. Bird has been stuffed in the top of the linen closet for a couple years. Maybe he's planning a comeback?
Cindey - I went to WalMart and got a package of 2" thick upholstery foam, and a few yards of yellow fleece fabric, and basically the costume is just a big sack with elastic at the bottom and a foam beak at the top. The wings are foam covered in fabric with holes for my hands to stick out. In person it's pretty shoddy in terms of craftsmanship (my sewing machine and I have a strange relationship) but it gets the point across. The point being, "Hello, I am a young woman dressed as a cartoon bird."
If you notice, the bird on my business card and the design of the bird costume are identical, save the color. I was planning on wearing boots with my costume originally too, but uh...I don't own any boots.
Beyond amazing works!! I'm happy to find you. I will follow your blog.
Have some Hugs! :)
